From Linux Rockchip
Rockchip-specific tool for packing kernel and initramfs into one file that can be flashed to boot or recovery partition.
mkbootimg takes a kernel and, optionally, initramfs/initrd image, produces a boot.img
- boot.img may be directly written (or flashed) to the boot partition or recovery partition
- NAND partition layout is defined by a parameter file
- Rockchip loader binary reads, tests checksum and then runs the boot image
- Note: Flashing zImage or Image unmodified will render the system unbootable. The proprietary loader expects the kernel packed by either mkbootimg or rkcrc.
